The labour market in August 2018

Registered unemployment was 2,3% in August 2018 or up from 2,2% in July 2018 and up from 1,9% in August 2017.   There were in average 4.259 unemployed in August 2018 or up with 90 from July 2018.

Unemployment by gender:

The unemployment by men was 2,1% in August 2018, or up from 2,0% in July 2018.  The unemployment by women was 2,5% in August 2018 or up from 2,4% in July 2018.

The unemployment by young people:

There were 531 young, aged 18-24 years unemployed in August 2018 or up from 508 in July 2018.

The long term unemployed:

There were 928 long term unemployed (over 1 year) in August 2018, or up from 890 in July 2018

Open vacancies:

There were 146 new incoming open vacancies in August 2018 or down from 151 new incoming open vacancies in July 2018.

Foreign workers:

There were in total 235 work permits (all types of work permits) issued in August 2018 but 203 in July 2018. There were 38 foreign service companies registered to Directorate of Labour in August 2018. These foreign service companies employed 218 workers in August 2018.

There were 26 Temporary-work agencies registered to Directorate of Labour in August 2018.

These Temporary-work agencies hired out 1.572 workers in August 2018.

The unemployment forecast for September 2018:

It is expected that the unemployment in September 2018 will be similar to the unemployment in August 2018 and be between 2,1% and 2,3%.
