The labour market in April 2019

Registered unemployment was 3,7% in April 2019 or up from 3,2% in March 2019 and up from 2,4% in April 2018. There were in average 6.803 unemployed in April 2019 or up with 841 from March 2019.

Unemployment by gender:

The unemployment by men was 3,6% in April 2019, or up from 3,2% in March 2019.  The unemployment by women was 3,8% in April 2019 or up from 3,3% in March 2019.

The unemployment by young people:

There were 860 young, aged 18-24 years unemployed in April 2019 or down from 884 in March 2019.

The long term unemployed:

There were 1.225 long term unemployed (over 1 year) in April 2019, or up from 1.163 in March 2019.

Open vacancies:

There were 209 new incoming open vacancies in April 2019 or up from 185 new incoming open vacancies in March 2019.

Foreign workers:

There were in total 149 work permits (all types of work permits) issued in April 2019 or down from 184 in March 2019. There were 26 foreign service companies registered to Directorate of Labour in April 2019. These foreign service companies employed 144 workers in April 2019.

There were 25 Temporary-work agencies registered to Directorate of Labour in April 2019.

These Temporary-work agencies hired out 927 workers in April 2019.

The unemployment forecast for May 2019:

It is expected that the unemployment in May 2019 will decrease due to seasonal reasons and be between 3,4% and 3,6%.
