The Directorate of Labour may enter into a special vocational rehabilitation contract with a job seeker who is insured through the unemployment insurance system.
According to the vocational rehabilitation contract the job seeker undertakes to participate fully in a vocational rehabilitation programme he has drawn up in collaboration with the advisor from the Directorate of Labour and other service providers, and the Directorate of Labour will during the same period pay the unemployment benefits to the job seeker to which he or she is entitled according to the act on unemployment benefits.
It is a condition that the vocational rehabilitation programme will be of direct use for the job seeker in his or her search for work in the opinion of the advisor from the Directorate of Labour, and that this programme is suited for a successful outcome in the job search.
A job seeker shall maintain regular communication with the advisor from the Directorate of Labour and other service providers, when applicable, during the period of validity of the vocational rehabilitation contract, but the job seeker does not need to engage in active job search during the same period.
The period of validity of each vocational rehabilitation contract can at the most be valid for thirteen weeks. The vocational rehabilitation contract may be extended one time provided that the vocational rehabilitation process has been satisfactory in the opinion of the advisor from the Directorate of Labour.

The period during which the vocational rehabilitation based on the vocational rehabilitation contract takes place is not considered as a period to earn entitlement
