The labour market in May 2017

Registered unemployment was 1,9% in May 2017 or down from 2,1% in April 2017 and down from  2,2% in May 2016. There were in average 3.596 unemployed in May 2017 or down with 227 from April 2017.

Unemployment by gender:
The unemployment by men was 1,7% in May 2017, or down from 1,9% in April 2017.  The unemployment by women was 2,2% in May 2017 or down from 2,4% in April 2017.

The unemployment by young people:
There were 577 young, aged 18-24 years unemployed in May 2017 or down from 512 in April 2017.

The long term unemployed:
There were 813 long term unemployed (over 1 year) in May 2017 or down from 838 in April 2017.

Open vacancies:
There were 315 new incoming open vacancies in May 2017, but in April 2017 there were 204 new incoming open vacancies.

Foreign workers:
There were in total 162 work permits (all types of work permits) issued in May 2017 but 137 in April 2017.  There were 37 foreign service companies registered to Directorate of Labour in May. 

These foreign service companies employed 374 workers.

There were 29 Temporary-work agencies registered to Directorate of Labour in May.

These Temporary-work agencies hired out 1.148 workers in May 2017.

The unemployment forecast for June 2017:
It is expected that the unemployment in June 2017 will fall and be between 1,6% and 1,8%.
