Technical Designer

CCP is seeking a Technical Designer to join our Platform Tools Team in Reykjavik, where we develop and maintain a wide variety of internal tools & services to support CCP’s Carbon game engine.

In this role you will serve as a link between game creators and platform developers as we develop new tools & services and modernize legacy systems. As Technical Designer for developer tools, you will take a data driven approach to researching industry leading developer tools, set standards, design improvements, and contribute to our Carbon codebase.

Your tasks:
Research industry standards & trends in developer tools in order to identify areas of improvement & standardisation
Work directly with game designers, artists, QA, engineers and other disciplines to understand their workflows and advocate for improvements
Design, prototype and develop tools and pipelines for both desktop applications and web services that will improve the productivity and autonomy of our development teams
Directly contribute to our code base as an engineer, while also supporting your team and projects in a design capacity

Your Profile:
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a software development & design position, ideally in a game development environment
Expertise in UI frameworks & UX and design, with experience in both desktop applications and web services being a plus
Solid programming and debugging skills in Python, C++ & JavaScript and similar languages
Able to own both design and engineering tasks on a multi-disciplined team
Well versed in industry standard development tools such as Unity, Unreal Engine CryEngine, etc
A great communicator, who can effectively convey project requirements and designs to diverse audiences.

Wages according to collective agreement.
